Torti

Why in Database: Torti is one of the turtles that appear in the Porky Pig comic. The ship on which Petunia, Pokry and Bugs are sailing is damaged, Torti helps them temporarily by patching the hole in the hull with himself, thanks to which they reach the beach, where they can easily repair the ship. The heroes quickly find an opportunity to repay Tortie and save him from the natives who caught him – it turns out that the inhabitants of the island massively rob turtles of their shells, because whoever gets the prettiest, is the king of the island (fortunately, it happens in a comic book form, that is, the turtles are not physically harmed, they can live without their shells). The heroes help the turtle community by causing (though accidentally, i.e. they wanted to do it, but in a different way) the natives to lose interest in turtles and give them their shells.

Tom (Bugs Bunny)

Why in Database: Tom is a bit weird because he appears in Four color #0355 – Bugs Bunny where he is depicted as a turtle who won the race against Bugs Bunny. But it should be Cecil, not Tom. However, apart from that, Bugs wants a rematch, the turtle refuses… only tempted by the option that he will get enough money to buy a new lake (because the old one is almost completely dry) agrees to become a Hot-Rod driver for Bugs’ rival team. During the race to the ignorance of the turtle, Bugs is constantly disturbed by those for whom Tom is going, but when he finds out, he warns his rival and the rest of the competition is fair – ending in a draw. But as a result of certain events and the failure of the water pipeline, his lake is refilled with water, so Tom is happy anyway.

Throckmorton

Why in Database: Throckmorton is a turtle, one of the two main characters (next to the hare, Harry) of “Tortoise and the Hare” comics that could be found in magazines such as Animal Antics, Comic Cavalcade or Leading Screen Comic . Generally speaking, Throcky is an honest and at times naive turtle who is notoriously subject to various machinations of a hare, who is lazy and tries to “set up” at the expense of his neighbor. Almost always, thanks to pure luck, support of the turtle family or self-deduction, Throckmorton gets his way and Harry is punished by fate (he is very rarely punished by the turtle himself).

Animal Antics #01: Six pages, Harry, the hare, after losing 4 races, wants use trick to win the fifth, but Throcky also uses tricks and wins again.

Animal Antics #02: Six pages, Throcky sets up greenhouses that compete with Harry’s. So Harry tries to harm him at all costs, but of course it all works out, either accidentally or through counter-actions of the turtle, to Throckmorton’s benefit.

Animal Antics #03: Six pages, again a race, but this time someone has offered a mighty prize for the loser. As a result, Harry tries at all costs to make the turtle cross the finish line first, unsuccessfully of course, and Throckmorton loses, as he wants.

Animal Antics #04: Six pages, again a race, but this time someone has offered a mighty prize for the loser. As a result, Harry tries at all costs to make the turtle cross the finish line first, unsuccessfully of course, Throckmorton loses, as he wants.

Animal Antics #06: Six pages, Harry decides to challenge the turtle to the sleigh race. And of course he sabotages him, but thanks to the support of Santa Claus who lent him his sleigh and reindeer, Throcky wins.

Animal Antics #07: Six pages, Harry reads that Throcky has discovered a formula to make gold and is trying to steal it. When he finally succeeds, it turns out that it was a printing error and it was about a fluorescent ink, the hare had doused himself with in and now shines.

Comic Cavalcade #052: Four pages, Tommy sees that the turtle works as a waiter and wants to cheat him and eat for free, but Throcky is not fooled and ultimately the hare has to pay for what he ate.

Leading Comics #027: Six pages, the heroes compete in a competition for the prettiest ship in a bottle model (and Harry, of course, is rather trying to harm the turtle efforts than make his own model).

Leading Comics #028: First a half-page gag, then a six-page comic. The Hare wants to win with the turtle, this time he proposes golf competition. And he prepares a number of tricks, but the other turtle sees it and what Harry prepared for Throckomorton, they change it back, causing him to lose, falling prey to his own tricks.

Leading Screen Comics #051: Six pages, irritated Throcky trains the monkey to warn him about the hare’s tricks. Harry wants to use this to his advantage, but of course it ends up badly for him, as he is sent somewhere far away.

Leading Screen Comics #054: Five pages, invariably, the turtle is trading bait, Harry wants to outsmart him and put him in jail for trading without a license, but ends up behind bars himself.

Leading Screen Comics #055: Less than six pages long, Harry accidentally sends (Throcky is the mailman) the wrong box to the police chief and tries to get it back, but of course he ends up in jail anyway.

Leading Screen Comics #056: Four pages, Harry wants to deprive the turtle of self-confidence, but of course it ultimately reflects on himself – after helping him to prove that he can do everything better, he no longer has the strength to play the tennis match before which he wanted to deprive his opponent of self-confidence, and faints. So Throcky wins by forfeit.

Overall, Tommy is a good turtle, sometimes a little naive, who gets into trouble a lot, but usually things turn out well for him.

Buster Bunny #02: Tommy tries to help Woodrow Woodchuck, whom the wolf chased up a tree, but due to his slowness and a series of events, he comes to inform anyone about the threat after Woodrow has freed himself. But soon he also unintentionally helps another character and becomes a hero, they also hand him rocket roller skates.

Buster Bunny #03: Tommy helps a fire-breathing little dragon who feels lonely and has no friends.

Buster Bunny #04: Six pages, this time the matter revolves around the picnic, the whole thing is similar to issue 2, by being slow he screw up and is blamed, but it soon turns out that he also saved the whole situation and is considered a hero.

Buster Bunny #07: Four pages, Tommy helps someone hunt for frogs (naively believing that this person is doing it out of concern for them, not to eat them). Of course, it ends well for the frogs, bad for the hunter.

Buster Bunny #09: One page, a gag with a hero repairing the TV.

Buster Bunny #10: One black and white page, Tommy catches moths that attacked his clothes in the closet.

Buster Bunny #14: Six pages, Tommy and a friend grumble over the heat and tries to change the weather, first leading to flooding and then to winter, much to the displeasure of other local residents.

Goofy Comics #042: A two-page comic, everyone in the woods is going skiing. Tommy too, but he’s having trouble getting to the top of the slope. Thanks to someone else’s help, he succeeds, but destroys the skis. So he uses his shell to slide down.

Happy Rabbit #42: Five pages, Tommy wants to clean the streets to win the Cleanest Street Competition. Of course, after some troubles, he achieves his goal.

Happy Rabbit #46: Half-page gag.

Happy Rabbit #48: Five Pages, Tommy makes a fuss at the library and creates damage for $100. Having to work off them, he accidentally discovers that one of the guards was robbing the library.

Lucky Duck #008: Half-page gag.

Sniffy the Pup #09: Five Pages, Tommy decides to become mayor, with full endorsement. But he eventually gets over it.

Supermouse #012: Two pages, Tommy and the younger turtle go to the forest, eventually, despite the cuts they make on the trees, they get lost, because the cuts are left by many other animals too.

Supermouse #021: Two pages about Tommy being superstitious. And he ends up in the hospital, poisoned by poison ivy during his (successful) search for the four-leaf clover.

Supermouse #039: A one-page comic book gag, about breaking the glass.

Supermouse the Big Cheese Summer Holiday: One-page, gag with a talent scout and a washboard.
