S01E20 – Best Prom Ever – When the heroes want to get to the “graduation bar”, one of them, Barney, acquires a mascot of turtle costume and so he gets inside. Eventually, he is kicked out, but he steal the precious head and run with itto pulls off security to help his friends. The turtle is obviously mentioned in the dialogues. “Slow but stubborn wins the race” is of course reference to the story of Tortoise and the Hare.

– What’s it to you, giant turtle?

– Slow and steady won the race.

– You know, for a turtle, he’s surprisingly quick.

S02E06 – Aldrin Justice – Turtle appears in the dialogue, Barney explains what type of woman is called a cougar, to which the interlocutor asks about a name for a woman who is 60-70 years old, suggesting a Turtle.

– A cougar. An older woman, usually in her 40s or 50s, single and on the prowl for a younger man.
– What’s a woman in her 60s or 70s? And the turtle?

S02E20 – Showdown – Barney is about to play a game show, but after one joke of his friends, he announces that once he wins everything, all they will get is Rice-A-Roni and Turtle Wax.

Just for that, when I win all the prizes, the only thing you guys are getting is Rice-A-Roni and Turtle Wax.

S03E04 – Little Boys – Turtle only in dialogue, one of the heroes mentioning one of his old dates states that he is still convinced that she killed his turtle.

I’m still convinced she killed my turtle.

S03E20 – Miracles – One of the characters explains why she doesn’t believe in miracles – when she was little her dog was old and sick. Her parents, however, provided him with a special therapy, “canine/testudine cerebro-xenograft” which kept him alive, but by the side effect he became a turtle. There are also recollection scenes showing this turtle.

– And when they took him to the vet, he told them that earlier that very day, he had learned about an experimental procedure called a canine / testudine cerebro-xenograft. Ever heard of it?
– No.
– Well, it saved Sir Scratchewan’s life. He lived another seven years.
– Miracle.
– Except for one … kind of big side effect from the surgery.
– Sir Scratchewan! Welcome home!
– He turned into a turtle. I know. It’s weird, right? Apparently, a very common complication from canine / testudine cerebro-xenografts. And he didn’t seem to remember any of his old tricks.

S06E08 – Natural History – The heroes visit the museum where, of course, you cannot touch the exhibits. However, they do differently, incl. “they play like on drums” on the exhibited turtle.
S08E08 – Twelve Horny Women – Only in the dialogue, turtles are mentioned in the context of the polluted lake.

– Son, yes, Gruber Pharmaceuticals probably polluted that lake, but I’m not gonna ruin an important company just because they gave some bird a rash.
– No, but it’s thousands of birds, and fish and otters and turtles …

S08E18 – Weekend at Barney’s – This episode mentions Ninja Turtles – on a fairly nerdy level.

– Do you think that you would enjoy a show featuring Donatello, Raphael, Michelangelo and Leonardo? Sound like you’re a fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

– No more jokes, no more candy, no more Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
– Hey, are you guys talking Ninja Turtles? I’m a huge TMNT fan. I grew up on those comic books.
– Me, too! I was obsessed.
– Did you know that the original comic debuted in 1984 at a convention in New Hampshire?
– Uh, yes. Did you know that Eastman and Laird always had their doubts about their characters being commercialized?
– Yes! Did you know that the painting on the back wall is inspired by Master Splinter?
– Oh, the one of the rat doing karate. I see it now.

S09E15 – Unpause – The turtle appears in this episode in the form of a soft toy belonging to one of the heroes.
