Why in Database: We found turtle elements in six episodes of this series:
S04E02 – Dunder Mifflin Infinity – In three different dialogues chocolate turtles are mentioned. They are part of the contents of the basket which the hero wanted to win sympathy from old customers who resigned from their services. An important part of one of the dialogues is this that one of the recipients has just eaten turtle part of the content.
– What I have done here is I have collected all the finest gourmet items that Scranton has to offer. – Sweet, chocolate turtles.
– With peanut brittle, with macadamia nut cookies, with chocolate turtles, with raspberry jam, and a little bit of fat and salt.
– What’s missing? The turtles. Summer sausage. Where are the turtles? Where are the turtles? – Come on, guys, get out of here. – Where are the turtles? Where are they? – Excuse me, I have an announcement to make. We seem to be missing a box of chocolate turtles with pecans and we will not be leaving the premises until we obtain them. Hand over the turtles now! – I ate them, okay? I ate the turtles. They’re gone.
S05E13 – Stress Relief – Turtles are mentioned twice in this episode. For the first time during a roast, one character mentions characters with whom he would rather go on a date than with the office boss – he mentions, among others, a turtle. The second mention is “turtleneck”, we generally omit such mentions, but we do mention it here, since we are discussing the episode anyway.
I have made a list of people that I would make out with before I would make out with Michael Scott. A turtle. A fridge. Anybody from the warehouse.
– Hey, why are you wearing a turtleneck?
S05E14 – Lecture Circuit – When leaving the hotel, the office boss comments ironically that they set off like a herd of turtles.
– And we’re off! Like a herd of turtles.
S06E04 – Niagara – This episode shows the wedding of two characters, an interesting element for us is a gift that one of the characters gave to the young. Namely a hammer, an apron with a turtle drawing and a set of pots for cooking turtles. As we learn from later scenes, he also gave a real turtle which escaped from his gift box.
I got them a set of turtle boiling pots, shell hammer, and bibs.
S07E20 – Training Day – In this episode, the turtles are again only in the form of a mention in dialogue. One character lures another into a conversation saying that he will show him a turtle.
– Thanks for meeting me.
– Are you kidding? I’d come anywhere to see a turtle? Where’d you find him.
– There’s no turtle, Michael. I just wanted to get you here.
– You know me very well, Dwight.
– That’s because I’m your right-hand man, Michael, but I can’t do it again. I can’t do it again for a whole new guy.
– Now I’m gonna have to go online and look at turtles or I’ll be off all day.
S09E01 – New Guys – As part of the “how they spent the summer” part at the beginning, one of the heroes tells about a turtle that he ran over in the parking lot, but he stuck him together, then crushed him again, and finally it turned out that the turtle is dead , and he was probably dead from the very scene in the parking lot. In a later scene, what he did with the turtle is recalled when he presents himself as posibbly cat guardian for one of the other protagonists.
– Oh! What a summer! An emotional roller coaster. I ran over a turtle in the parking lot. But then I saved him by gluing his shell back together. But I’m not that good at puzzles.
– That piece doesn’t go there.
– Shh. So I patched him with stuff from around the office, but I couldn’t get the pieces to fit right. Then one day, while I was reaching for the glue, I crushed his shell again. But I rebuilt him even better that time. But it turned out the turtle was already dead. Probably when I ran over him the first time.
– I’ll take him.
– Please. After the turtle?
– I am enormously proud of what I did for that turtle!
– There was a Dwight impersonator and a Jim impersonator. A strongman crushed a turtle.
