Mister Dibbles is the turtle that Quicksilver saves and befriends in the five-issue (the turtle comes from number two) comic book series Quicksilver: No Surrender . It is a completely ordinary, non-anthropomorphized pet.
Quicksilver: No Surrender # 02: He debuts, we see him in some kind of sack/bag, he is held by kids, one of whom also has a hammer, so it seems like a bad fate was written for him. From the moment he appears in the first half of the issue, he appears through the frames of all other pages until the end – although, of course, due to being frozen in time, he does not do anything “by itself”.
Quicksilver: No Surrender #03: Initially, he has a much smaller role, like 2 or 3 frames, but on the last page of the comic he is “unfreezed” and interacts with the title character.
Quicksilver: No Surrender #04: He remains unfreezed and appears through most of the pages, he does typical turtle things, walks, hisses sometimes, but is an important anchor for Quicksilver in normality, he talks (one-sidedly of course) with Mister Dibbles, etc. Finally, he leaves him safely in the pond by the Avengers headquarters .
Quicksilver: No Surrender #05: He only appears in two frames, when everything ends well and Quicksilver returns to normal reality, he learns that the turtle was safely waiting there, was fed, etc. Later, he and his sister also take him for a night meal, the hero’s narration also tells us indirectly about what the protagonist has learned and what the turtle has become for him – the solution to problems is not speeding up to escape them, but just slowing down, a stereotypical turtle trait.
