Pokemon – episodes with a large presence of Squirtle

A special note with screenshots from the seven most Squirtle/Turtle episodes of Pokemon anime.

012Here Comes the Squirtle Squad – The episode in which Ash’s Squirtle and his friends from Squirtle Squad debut.
060Beach Blank-Out Blastoise – This episode features the entire Turtle Island (shell-like) where Blastoise lives, accompanied by a mass of Squirtle and Wartortle. There is also of course Ash’s Squirtle here.
106The Pokémon Water War – In this episode Ash (and his Squirtle) meet a team of firefighters with Squirtle teams (to operate in circumstances where a small size is required), Wartortle (being a compromise between the size of the Squirtle and the strength of the Blastoise’s water attacks) and the Blastoise, which are large but have the greatest extinguishing power with their water cannons.
147The Fire-ing Squad! – We can meet the Squirtle Squad again, they participate in competitions in which various firefighting teams compete, also the Wartortle team known from the 106th episode returns.
1143 – JN058 – A Rollicking Roll… Eyes on the Goal! – The episode whose second section is entirely turtle, all Poke-turtles appear in it (existing at the time of the episode’s premiere, of course), the trainer of all, except Chewtle, is Shell Sage.
1226 – JN141 – A Squad’s Worth of Passion! – The episode is entirely dedicated to the Squirtle Squad, so Ash’s Squirtle also appears. Squirtle is also in the “Who is that Pokemon” section.
SS019Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Team Go-Getters Out of the Gate! – One of the special episodes, outside/next to the main series. Unusual is fact, that it focuses ONLY on Pokemon that speaks in normall way (because they are among themselves). The main character is a boy who woke up one day and was surprised to find out, that he is a Squirtle.

Ash’s Squirtle

The first of the Turtle-Pokemon that Ash has trained in his long history, and the first turtle Pokémon that has appeared on the screen for a longer time (because the first time when Squirtle was shown was in the very first episode, in Ash’s mind). When we first see him on screen, he is the leader of a group of troublemakers called Squirtle Squad, they are Squirtle which have been abandoned by their trainers. A characteristic feature of the entire team are glasses, the leader (who joined Ash) wears a slightly triangular shape that forms an asymmetrical figure with 6 sides, and the other four turtles have glasses with round lenses. After joining Ash’s team, he helped him in significant fights more than once, but later, with Ash’s consent and encouragement, he rejoined the Squirtle Squad, which had problems with self-organization without their leader. However, the officer Jenny was ready to deliver Ash’s Squirtle whenever Ash needed it. What is not typical is fact, that wile Ash’s other Pokémon ended up on Professor Oak’s farm, Squirtle found his home elsewhere.

Tierro’s Squirtle-Wartortle-Blastoise

Pokemon described in this note is the third of the “famous Squirtle”, belonging to the named trainer and appearing in more episodes. Squirtle trained by Tierro stands out (apart from his dancing personality, consistent with the trainer) in that he was the only one that evolve into the final form, Blastoise (Ash’s Squirtle never evolved, May’s Squirtle, as far as we know, evolved only to Wartortle). He is also distinguished by the fact that, unlike the two mentioned above, he did not appear in any films. However, like Ash’s Squirtle, this one also is raised in the company of other Kanto starters (although Ash was the trainer of all, and in this case, Tierro is friends with the two other trainers, with Bulbasaur and Charmander).

Below is a list of the episodes in which this Pokemon appears – the first number is the “overall” episode number, the second is the episode number within the sub-series, in this case, XY. Episode numbers according to the Bulbapedia.

May’s Squirtle-Wartortle

Chronologically the second of the Squirtle belonging to the named trainer (May) who appears in a large number of episodes. Initially, he is distinguished by a very tearful and timid character, and with time and with subsequent fights, he becomes bolder. He mainly occurs in “competitions”, where important thing is in what style pokemon will defeat the opposing Pokemon (while in normal fights, only effectiveness matters). As part of the main series, while May accompanies Ash, Squirtle remains in her basic form, during her guest appearance on the show sometime later, we can see that he has evolved into Wartortle in the meantime.

Below is a list of the episodes in which this Pokemon appears – the first number is the overall episode number, the second is the episode number within the sub-series, AG is Advanced Generation, DP is Diamond & Pearl, PK is a special episode (focusing on Pikachu).
