Tommy Turtle

Why in Database: Tommy Turtle is a character who appear in many (over 15, counting issues where he was – StH is in the format “each issues have 2-3 different stories) stories in comic books series Sonic the Hedgehog. Tommy’s story is rather sad, our first contact with him ends with the betrayal of people he considers friends and his “death” (of course, it turns out, he survived). Later, he is used by evil forces as a trap (the real Tommy is captured and Sonic get a robot pretending to be him) and he unknowingly helps the nanites to master other robots and loses his consciousness himself for the sake of these nanites. Finally, he dies, temporarily regaining control over his body and heroically sacrificing himself. Of course, he have some positive apperances, but the overall impression after reading the comics with him is rather sad and compassionate.

– The Tortoise and The Hedgehog: We meet Tommy, who accidentally (his “friends” used him) dragged Sonic into a trap. To make amends, he saves Sonic, risking his own life, even sacrificing it, as the comic shows it. Besides, we learn a bit of his past, we learn how he won the race with Sonic, which is a classic reference to the Tortoise and the Hare.

– The Tommy Trilogy, Part One: Agent of K.N.O.T.H.O.L.E.: It turns out that Tommy survived! He has a few frames for himself, but you can generally call this story an introduction to the next issues with him.

– The Tommy Trilogy, Part Two: The Infiltrator: It turns out that Tommy is just a robot, an infiltrator designed to kill Sonic! It fails, without any casualties. Finally, Sonic learns from the elements retrieved from the destroyed robo-turtle that the real Tommy is still alive.

– The Tommy Trilogy, Part Three: Robo-Dyne Systems: Tommy is on the cover. There is also a lot of him in the comic, they finally save him. He ends up positive, they rescued him at the last minute (he was about to be killed) and they all escaped together.

– Harbinger You can see Tommy in four frames, there’s not much of him here.

– The Good, The Bad, & The Unknown – Part One: “Prototype” and Tommy the Turtle in “Out of Your Shell”:In the first story, he is in 3 frames, nothing important. But the second story even has him it in title! And it’s about him and how he found a place for himself in the Sonic’s society.

– The Good, The Bad, & The Unknown – Part Two: “Ignition”: A lot of Tommy, but little action with him – he sits in the control center, only watching the action.

– The Good, The Bad, & The Unknown – Part Three: “Genesis”: A few frames, a little bit of action.

– The Good, The Bad, & The Unknown – Part Four: “Armageddon”: A few frames, nothing special.

– Sonic’s Angels: Parę kadrów, nic specjalnego.

– “Songoose” Part 1 of 2: There’s a turtle in the audience, but it’s probably not Tommy.

– “Songoose” Part 2 of 2 oraz More Than Meets the Eye: In the first story, in the audience there is again a character resembling Tommy, but it is almost certainly not him – given the narrative style in this passage. The second story focuses on Tommy, so it’s full of him. He is in symbiosis with the nanites, which give his shell some new adaptation possibilities.

– System Reboot oraz The Despicable Dr. Robotnik: “Insidious”: In the first story there is literally one frame with him.
