Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003)

Title: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Year: 2003-2010
Director: Roy Burdine, Chuck Patton
English dubbing: Michael Sinterniklaas, Wayne Grayson, Gregory Abbey, Sam Riegel, Darren Dunstan, Marc Thompson, Sean Schemmel, Veronica Taylor
Genre: Animation, Action, Adventure, Comedy, S-F, Thriller
Country: USA, South Korea
Viewing method: Whole series

Why in Database: Second animated series and the third overall series from the Ninja Turtles universe. More serious than the first one, closer to the original comic series (though still less literal in showing violence etc!), Many episodes are based on different Mirage TMNT comics (but most often, it is a loose adaptation, the series adds its own solutions and ideas to the mix) .

Turtles appear, of course, in all 156 episodes of the series, apart from them, in single episodes there are other versions of them, Super-Turtles or Dark Turtles.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Title: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Year: 1987-1996
Director: Bill Wolf, Tony Love, Mike Stuart, Bruno-René Huchez, Reg Lodge, Vincent Davis
English dubbing: Cam Clarke, Townsend Coleman, Renae Jacobs, Barry Gordon, Peter Renaday, Rob Paulsen, Pat Fraley, James Avery, Jennifer Darling
Polski lektor: Marek Gajewski
Genre: Animation, Action, Adventure, Comedy, Criminal, Family
Country: USA
Viewing method: Whole series

Why in Database: The first series with Ninja Turtles, and it can be said that a very important – mainly because of this series, TMNT became widely recognized.

This series had a rather loose, comedic character, very different from what turtles were in comics when they debuted (this theme will be explored several times in another series when this incarnation of turtles meets those from later series). Of course, in all episodes (193!) the main four turtles appear, in several episodes there are also other turtles – the whole planet of turtles, Slash, Tokka, a group of ordinary turtles or various more or less returning characters briefly turned into turtles.

Taking advantage of “being the first”, the series introduced many characters (like Krang, Bebop, Rocksteady, to name few) that later became a solid part of the turtleverse.

Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation

Title: Title: Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation
Year: 1997-1998
Director: Robert Lee, James Taylor, Ed Anders, Richard Flower
English dubbing: Jarred Blancard, Mitchell A. Lee Yuen, Dean Choe, Richard Yee, Nicole Parker, Kirby Morrow, Matt Hill, Jason Gray-Stanford, Michael Dobson, Lalainia Lindbjerg, Shishir Inocalla, Fiona Scott
Genre: Canada, USA
Country: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Family, S-F
Viewing method: Whole series

Why in Database: The only live-action series with Ninja Turtles and the second overall series. The whole thing consists of 26 episodes, and of course, there is a lot of turtles in each of them. The series essentially continues the vision of the world presented in the first three films, but deviates from it in a few places (for example, Shredder is alive). Among the elements typical of the turtle universe, the lack of April or Casey is noteworthy, while the presence of the fifth turtle, female, Venus, is unusual and her character is unique for this series.

Interestingly enough, the series was produced by the company Saban, which also produced Power Rangers – the characters of turtles appeared in one of the stories with these warriors.
