Why in Database: Caroline is the character of the turtle, the fifth/second (total/counting only animals) hero of the French comic books Boule et Bill, known in English as Billy & Buddy.
These comics are rather short, one-page stories, and the album editions collect dozens of such stories. Six issues have been published in English so far, this article focuses on the content of five of them.
It should be noted and emphasized that this is only a slight drawing of attention to the fact of the existence of such a character and series – the number of pages published in French goes into hundreds, albums and other forms grouping them are dozens. Unfortunately, the language barrier prevents us from trying to explore the topic better than what-was-published-in-English – but if it’s not a problem for someone, then if you want a comic with a turtle participation, you may try to reach for these items, there is a high probability that some participation of Caroline will have. Or not (after all, out of the five volumes we have read in English, Carolien was only in three!).
Billy & Buddy 2 : She appears on the cover and we also see her in the four stories inside.
Billy & Buddy 3: Only on cover.
Billy & Buddy 4: She appears on the cover and we can see her in the three stories inside.
Billy & Buddy 5: He appears on the cover, on the title page and in seven stories. As a curiosity, it is worth mentioning that in one of these stories Esmeralda also appears, she is another, much larger turtle. And for the joke related to it, the title characters are punished in a turtle manner (we have included the appropriate frame below).
